Starting Where I Am: Notes on Creative Life in the Real World

I’ve spent a lot of time wondering if I needed a clear niche before I could start writing regularly again. I love songwriting, writing, stationery, teaching, planning, music, and the creative process…and trying to choose only one felt impossible.

Recently I realized something important: my creative life doesn’t happen in perfectly defined categories.

It happens in the middle of work, parenting, teaching, projects, ideas scribbled in my planner, songs I keep meaning to finish, and the small pockets of time when inspiration shows up. It’s imperfect, seasonal, sometimes quiet, sometimes vibrant – but it’s still a creative life.

So that’s what this space is for: exploring what creativity looks like in real, everyday life.

I’ll share notes on:

  • Songwriting and writing
  • Tools and notes books that help me stay grounded/organized
  • Creative routines and intentional practices
  • The messy parts of creativity
  • …and also the meaningful parts
  • The way all of it fits together (or doesn’t!)

If you’re a multi-passionate creative trying to juggle life and inspiration, or someone who wants to feel creative again without the pressure to be perfect – I’m right there with you!

Here’s to starting where we are.

Here’s to small steps.

Here’s to creative life in the real world.

We’ll talk soon. 🙂
